Design tokens

The single source of truth for colour, type, shape, spacing and elevation.

Tokens are declared once and compiled into both a Compose theme and an XML theme overlay. Components never reference raw values, which is what keeps Compose and View surfaces visually identical.

Token families

  • Colour — role pairs (container / on-container) across light, dark and high-contrast.
  • Typography — display, headline, title, body and label roles.
  • Shape — extra-small through extra-large corner families.
  • Spacing — a 4dp base scale with density multipliers.
  • Elevation — level 0-5 mapped to shadow and surface tint.
